What's
Vision's
contents:
Vision's is a non-profit art exhibit space which opened in January 2002, with the backing of the Asagaya Gakuen school group. It is named "Exhibit Space" rather than a "gallery" because the space is intended not only to display the so-called paintings and sculpture but to accommodate all genres of art. Its aim is to become a meeting place where visitors can come in contact with a wide range of contemporary art that is worthy of attention, as they unfold and develop in our own times.
The Asagaya Gakuen Group has long awaited the creation of such space that is unique in its conception and is open to the world. This is not only because the Group is an educational institution. It has also felt the need to introduce "good" art and artists- relying on common sensitivity and judgment that we believe all of us have inherited from the past and possess - but are often overlooked in the current Japanese art scene. Through this activity we hope to stimulate more communication.
How is it used, and what are the requirements for using it?
Vision's is open to people who understand and can agree with its objective. It is a non-profit entity and has three program categories: (1) The Vision's Program, in which Vision's is solely responsible for planning and financing of the event. About half of our annual schedule is appropriated to this program. (2) The Collaborated Program, in which the event is jointly planned between the participant party and Vision's, and Vision's finances the space rental fee. (3) The Independent Program, in which the participant party finances the entire cost of the event.
The criterion for selection of programs and event applications must meet one of the following:
Needless to say, a high degree of quality is required for all the exhibited work.
What is different about Vision's?
One of the unique points about Vision's is that we refuse to be particular: In planning and selecting our programs, we do not wish to pursue any pre-set directions.
Vision's is also unique as a forum for presenting the current state and achievements of art education and research institutions, as can be seen above in the fourth category for program selection.
We are now seeking recommendation of new artists from various educational organizations for our collaborated programs that start in 2003.
